clear and crisp.
i guess you used an inversion and a sort of gradient mapping to color this one
i could be wrong
but then again if you did, i'd say you might as well try a simple brush in a "color" mode and see what it does to your picture. you might be able to color just any part of your figure the way you like it
or even a simpler way
try to see what results you get when picking a grey point at different places of the smoke figure. i've seen results that are quite insteresting... :)

But i used soft light mode instead :)

Thanks, I just inveresed the colours, and added a gradient layer on top, set to a blending mode of soft light. Pretty simple really, it only took a few mins in photoshop :)
